CAUSATIVE VERBS - USE

make + object + base form - Example: He always makes me laugh.

• To say that someone / thing forces / compels / leads someone / thing else to do something

get + object + infinitive - Example: I couldn't get her to change her mind.

• To say that someone persuades someone else to do something

have + object + base form - Example: I had my brother wash my bike.

• To say that someone instructs or arranges someone else to do something

let + object + base form - Example: She let me use her new laptop.

• To say that someone / thing allows someone / thing else to do something

USE

verb of perception + object + base form

• When we hear / see the whole action or event - Example: I saw him enter the kitchen.

verb of perception + object + -ing form

• When we hear / see an action or event in progress, a part of an action or event - Example: My parents heard me quarrelling with my sister.
