Unit 4 - The future of learning

Exercise

3

Read the article again and answer the questions.

Solution

  1. The advantages of ‘flipped’ classrooms include allowing students to learn the theoretical part outside the classroom and the practical part face-to-face with a teacher. This method provides flexibility for students to learn at different times and places, giving them more control over their learning.
  2. Classrooms at Highgrove High School are changing by incorporating flexible seating arrangements, sofas, soft chairs, flexible desks, and smart TVs. The school is also planning to open coffee shops and create common spaces for group work and test preparation.
  3. A lot of students aren’t happy with the way they are assessed nowadays because they feel forced to cram the night before exams and often forget everything immediately afterward. Additionally, teachers are concerned that current exams might not effectively measure the necessary skills and knowledge for the workplace.
  4. Important skills when entering the world of work include the ability to think critically, solve problems, make decisions, and communicate and collaborate systematically.
  5. Students will be at the focus of education in the future, with an emphasis on creating a more student-centred learning environment.
